Jyrki Seppä

Jyrki Seppä ( born November 14, 1961 in Tampere ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1979 to 1986 among others for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League.

Career

Jyrki Seppä began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Ilves Tampere, for the first team to 1981 he was active from 1979 in the SM- liiga. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1981 in the third round than a total of 43 players from the Winnipeg Jets, but remained first for the 1981/82 season in Finland, where he stood for Jokerit Helsinki on the ice.

In the summer of 1982, Seppä eventually went to North America, where it is mainly in the following two years for Winnipeg's farm team, the Sherbrooke Canadiens of the American Hockey League, played. He also came in the 1983/84 season to 13 inserts for Winnipeg in the National Hockey League, where he gave two assists. In the aftermath of the former youth international was often injured, so he had to sit for a year with ice hockey. For the 1985/86 season he ran for his former club Jokerit Helsinki in the SM liiga, and he at the age of 24 years finished his career.

Internationally

For Seppä Finland took part in the Junior World Championships in 1980 and 1981. In both tournaments he won with his team the silver medal, which he had no use at the 1980 World Junior Championships.
