Jyrki Välivaara

Jyrki Välivaara (* May 30, 1976 in Jyväskylä ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since June 2012 at JYP Jyväskylä in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Jyrki Välivaara began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior division of JYP Jyväskylä, for the first team, he made his debut in the SM- liiga in the 1997/98 season. After four years at the defender Change servicekit JYP within the League to Tappara Tampere, with which he first became an instant first runner-up and in the 2002/03 season in his career, Finnish Champion. From 2003 to 2006 he played for Linköpings HC in the Swedish Elitserien. At the beginning of the season 2006/ 07 he accepted an offer of league rivals Malmö Redhawks, with whom he descent into second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan end of the season. In this he remained one year, but left the south of Sweden after the missed resurgence and joined his hometown club JYP Jyväskylä. With JYP he was in the first season after his return in season 2008/ 09 Finnish Champion.

After his point best season in the SM- liiga and winning the World Championship title with Välivaara Finland was obliged to season 2011/12 of Metallurg Novokuznetsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. After a year in the KHL, he returned to JYP.

Internationally

For Finland Välivaara took 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011, at the Euro Hockey Tour in part. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championship 2011 in Slovakia, in which he became world champion with his team.
