Kalevi Kärkinen

Kalevi Antero Kärkinen ( born August 15, 1934 in Helsinki, † April 8, 2004 in Lahti ) was a Finnish ski jumper.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 he reached the individual on the normal hill on points with Nikolai and Nikolai Kamensky Schamow ninth place. In 1959, Kärkinen on the Papoose Peak Jumps in Squaw Valley with 85.5 m a new hill record on which a year until the Olympic Winter Games in 1960 inventory. In the Four Hills Tournament 1960/61, the single of his career in which he participated, he reached the third place in Oberstdorf and Bischofshofen. In Partenkirchen held to a 22nd place. However, he was able to win in Innsbruck and occupied as at the end of the third place in the Tour overall standings.

Kalevi Kärkinen was the older brother of Kärkinen Juhani, who was also successful as a ski jumper.
