Kamenskoye, Kamchatka Krai

Kamenskoje (Russian Каменское ) is a village ( selo ) in the region of Kamchatka (Russia) with 655 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The town is located northeast of the Penschinabusens representing the north-eastern part of the Okhotsk Sea, over 1100 line kilometers north-northeast of the regional administration center Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is located on the right, steep banks of the Penzhina.

Kamenskoje is the administrative center of the Rajons Penschinski.

History

The present village was founded in 1930 as an administrative center for the newly created, sparsely populated Autonomous Okrug Koryak. The original name was Korjakskaja kultbasa ( " Koryak culture base " ): at this point arose a boarding school, a hospital, a veterinary station, a trading post and a radio station. Soon the name of a pre-existing downstream village was transferred to the new settlement. The original village, probably after a there in the Penzhina which opens Bach Kamenny ( came from stone ) named, no longer exists. In 1937 (after application of 1935) the administration, however, was transferred to the transport connections located on the coast of the Okhotsk Sea Palana, and Kamenskoje has since been the center of one of the four Rajons of the Autonomous Okrug, the rose, while maintaining the Rajons in the region of Kamchatka, 2007.

Economy and infrastructure

Kamenskoje is located on a dirt road with about 50 km to the west near the Penschinamündung, today the largest village of Rajons, Manily connected. The slopes of the mountains in the border area of northwest extending Oklan Plateau ( Oklanskoje plato ), increasing to more than 400 m height. Because of the sections, several hundred meters steep mountains to Penzhina the runway could not be moved along the riverbank. Following the year-round navigable region's road network does not exist; a winter road leads to Tilitschiki on the east coast.

Early in Kamenskoje ( about 10 km downstream on the left bank ) of existing airfield is inoperative. The town is served irregularly by helicopter from Tilitschiki.
