Kamienka, Stará Ľubovňa District

Kamienka ( until 1948 slovak " Kamionka "; Stone German, Hungarian Kövesfalva, russinisch Камюнка / Kamjunka ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia with 1387 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the Region of Stara Okres Ľubovňa, a part of the Prešov heard and is counted to the traditional landscape Zips.

Geography

The municipality is located on the divide between the highlands Ľubovnianska highlands and the mountains Zipser Magura, at the brook Kamninka, a tributary of Poprad. The little more than 29 km ² municipal area is quite hilly, with altitudes ranging from 570 m nm N.M. to 1014 m and extends up to the Polish border in the north. The center is located at an altitude of 600 m nm and is nine kilometers by road from Stara Ľubovňa and 48 kilometers by road from Poprad.

History

The present town was built on the site of an older village in 1315 as Petri villa mentioned in writing (now slowakisiert as Petrova Ves ), in 1342 already as Villa Lapidis (Latin lapis = stone). It belonged to the dominion of the Lublauer castle and was pledged with these from 1412 to 1772 to the Polish crown. After a directory of Polish royal goods of 1562, the village was founded by Wallachian law. 1567 six Rusyns were settled from the submerged village in the new village.

1828 are 329 houses and 2,351 inhabitants recorded, which were mainly engaged in agriculture, tinker, and to a lesser extent in crafts. However, poverty and lack of job opportunities made ​​for waves of emigration, particularly in the late 19th century.

Infrastructure

In the community consists of both a crib and a primary school. Furthermore, a library and a post office are available. Through the town, the main road runs 543 ( Spisská Stara Ves - Hniezdne ), with connection to the road 1st order 77 ( Spisská Bela - Stara Ľubovňa - Svidník ) in Hniezdne. Connections to the railway line Poprad - Plaveč are in Forbasy ( stop) and in Stara Ľubovňa ( train station).
