Kanatbek Begaliev

Kanatbek " Kanat " Kubatbekowitsch Begalijew (Russian Канатбек Бегалиев; born 14 February 1984 in Talas, Kyrgyz SSR ) is a Kyrgyz wrestler. He won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in lightweight at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Kanatbek Begalijew began as a teenager in 1997 with the rings. After his talent was recognized, he was delegated to the Ringer Center in Bishkek. He is coached by Emil Taschanowitsch Alykulow and Mairambek Janilowitsch Akhmedov. He wrestles only in Greco- Roman style. He is currently a student, but focuses mainly on the rings.

The international career of Kanatbek Begalijew began in 1999, when he participated in the World Youth Championship in Nyköbing at the Cadets ( = age group up to 16 years ) in the weight class up to 46 kg of body weight nd came up with a good 5th place. A year later he was in Hamadan / Iran Asian champions in the junior ( Cadets ) flyweight before the Kazakhs Dauren Bayakmetow and the Indians Sarup Singh.

In the Asian Junior Championships ( Cadets, Juniors) 2001 and 2002 in Tehran and Mashhad / Iran, he finished each of the 2nd place in the bantam and featherweight. In 2003 he then started in New Delhi for the first time in an Asian championship of seniors. In lightweight behind Parviz Zaidvand he came here from Iran and Gurbinder Singh from India to 3rd place. Less well it ran for him at the Junior World Championship 2003 in Istanbul, because he lost there in the 3rd round against Seref Tüfenk from Turkey, with which he retired and finished only 11th place. He was still employed in the World Cup in France Créteil but had to turn learns the hard way, because he lost after a victory over Georgios Bukis from Greece again against Parivz Zaidvand and the experienced poor Vardanyan of Ukraine and wound up a 18th place.

But he left Undeterred and qualified in 2004 with a 3rd place in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Tashkent for participation in the Olympic Games in Athens. In Athens, he lost again against Parviz Zaidvand and triumphed over Moises Sanchez Parra from Spain. After these two battles was for him but terminus. He finally came on the 11th Place.

The big breakthrough came Kanatbek Begaliew then in 2006. According to a 3rd place in the lightweight in the World University Championships in Ulaanbaatar behind Cebi Selcuk from Turkey and Ali Mohammadi from Iran, he came at the World Championships in Gungzhou with victories over Gurbinder Singh India and Justin Lester Harry from the United States and the two former world champions Nikolai Gergow from Bulgaria and Şeref Eroğlu in the final, in which he had to give, however, fought the Chinese Li Yanyan from Turkey.

2007 Kanatbek Begaliew was at home in Bishkek Asian champion at lightweight. In the final he defeated while the Olympic champion from 2004 Jang Ji- hyun of South Korea. However, he suffered a setback at the World Championships this year in Baku, because he already lost in his second fight against the Armenian Arman Adikjan and only came on the 13th Place.

2008 did not succeed in Jeju / South Korea 's Asia Championship title from 2007 to defend because he lost in the finals of this championship against the South Koreans Kim Min - chul on points. But he managed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing, with a 3rd place at Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Ostia, near Rome. In Beijing, he won over Jake Deitchler from the United States, the Vice World Champion of 2003 arms Vardanyan of Ukraine and Nikolai Gergow on points. None of these placements was sufficient for qualification, although he Quali Fiction criteria each missed only one place in Astana and in Helsinki.
