Karkaraly

Qarqaraly ( Kazakh Қарқаралы; Russian Каркаралинск / Karkaralinsk ) is a city in central Kazakhstan with 8,230 inhabitants ( 2008) in the east of the area Karaganda and is located in 220 km east of the regional capital.

History

The city was founded in 1824 as a Cossack Cossack village. It lies at the foot of the mountain massif Karkaraly.

On August 11, 1962 landed near the city of cosmonaut Andrian Nikolayev with the spaceship Vostok 3
