Kashar ( Albanian: Kashari ) is a Komuna in central Albania northwest adjacent to the capital Tirana. The administrative center of the municipality, which belongs to the district Tirana, located in the village Yzberish that has grown together with the adjacent Tirana. Kashar has about 43,000 inhabitants ( 2011) and is thus - in terms of population - the ninth largest municipality in Albania. It is named after the village Kashar.

Geography

Location

Kashar is located approximately six kilometers northwest of the center of Tirana. The eastern part of the village is surrounded by several neighborhoods of Tirana. The community is clamped between the SH2 motorway in the north and the national road SH56 in the South, both of which connect Tirana with the 30 km further west in the port city of Durres.

In the last 20 years, large housing estates and industrial areas are developed mainly along the highway and in Yzberish that stretch without interruption of Tirana along the northern border through the whole community. The largest projects include the City Park Shopping Centre. The criss-crossed by hills areas along the southern and western border, however, are still marked very rural.

The Lana runs through the municipal area in the northeast. Furthermore, there are four smaller lakes that serve as water reservoirs.

Community structure

The Komuna Kashar comprises a total of ten villages in an area of ​​35.6 square kilometers. Mazrek, Kashar Kus Kashar Koder, Katund i Ri, Yrshek, Mëzez, Mëzez Fushë, Yzberish and Yzberish 1 ( in ungefährt from west to east ) are also included.

Population

Kashar has 43 353 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) and 21,238 households. This represents approximately 2.15 persons per household. The people are traditionally to Islam, but there are by immigration from other parts of the country also members of the Orthodox and Catholic Church.

History

The village Kashar first mentioned around the year 1456, as in the adjacent level, the army of the League of Lezha met that of the Ottomans. The battle took place near an old bridge over the Limuth called Lana.

During the Ottoman rule, which lasted from the 15th to the early 20th century, was born in the village of a Dervish Monastery of the Bektashi.

The Komuna of Kashar was set up in 1992; then, the administrative headquarters was still in Lapraka, a municipality in the north-west of Tirana. Opened in 1994 to the new headquarters in the village Yzberish where he is today.

Policy

The executive power in the municipality exercises the mayor of together with his cabinet. Since the last local elections in 2011, directs Besnik FUCIA (PD ) the office of mayor.

For the legislative authority of the municipal council ( Alb. Këshilli Municipal ) is responsible. It is composed of 25 members. Since 2011, the Council is composed as follows:
