Box at Boeheimkirchen is a municipality with 1330 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Sankt Pölten- Land in Lower Austria.

Geography

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. Box is first mentioned in 1157 in documents of the diocese of Passau. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria. Since 1366 the site was owned by the monastery of St. Pölten. In 1972 the merger of the municipalities created in 1850 Stössing box and the greater community box. In 1988 the greater community was again divided into municipalities box and Stössing.
