Katharina Franck

Katharina Franck ( born July 28, 1963 in Dusseldorf ) is a German singer and musician. She is best known for her band Rain Birds.

Katharina Franck grew up in Portugal, since her father worked there as Thyssen representative. From 1974 to 1977 she lived in São Paulo, Brazil began playing guitar and writing songs in English. Back in Portugal, she made her first band, stage and studio experience.

In 1981, she moved to Cologne. This was followed by the first trials with cut- ups, poems and prose in German language. When Popkurs at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg took her first singing lessons. In 1983 she moved to Berlin and stayed first with part-time jobs over the water. In 1985 she became a member of the band Les Black Carnations in which they operated under the name Justine Time.

In the spring of 1986, she founded the band Rain Birds, with which she won the Berlin Senate band contest and was taken thereupon by the record company Mercury under contract. The single blueprint was established in 1988 as a Europe hit. The band was repeatedly re-formed and released a total of six studio albums. The last publication appeared in 1999 a live album.

1990-1994 she was a member of the band Stone (next to FM Einheit of Einstürzende Neubauten and Ulrike Haage ), with whom she released three albums.

After various guest appearances and a radio play Franck's publication in 1997 appeared first solo album, hunger, referred to her as Spoken pop songs. 2002, the second solo album Zeitlupenkino appeared with another spoken pop songs.

Was published in 2006 with First Take a Second Skin Singer-/Songwriter-Album in English followed by On the Verge of an Autobiography in 2008.

Between autumn 2009 and autumn 2010 Katharina Franck brought a song retrospective on the stage. At the 30 songs from all albums, early works, and new, yet unreleased songs. Even during which began the collaboration with Reinhardt Repkes Dead Poets Society. The result was the album One miracle melody - Rainer Maria Rilke new soundtrack. The joint tour across Germany began on 10 September 2010 and ended on 28 January 2012.
