Katy is a city located in Fort Bend County, Waller County and Harris County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in southeast Texas, off Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 90 in the extreme southwestern corner of the county, dates back to the County Waller and Harris inside, away from the Gulf of Mexico about 105 miles and has a total of 27, 6 km ² without significant water surface.

History

Have 1890 served the town as a railroad depot. It was named after the short form KT Railroad of Missouri - Kansas - Texas Railroad, now a part of Union Pacific.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 11,775 people in 3,888 households and 3,083 families. The population density was 426.1 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 83.98 % White, 4.24 % African American, 0.56 % Native American, 0.50 % Asian, 0.04 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 8.65 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.03% were Mixed Race and 23.75 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

31.5% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.7 % from 18 to 24, 30.9% 25-44, 20.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.1 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 97.5 males.
