Kaustinen

Kaustinen [ kɑu̯stinɛn ] ( swedish KAUSTBY ) is a municipality in western Finland with 4279 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 45 km southeast of Kokkola in the landscape Central Ostrobothnia. Neighboring communities Kaustinen are Kokkola in the northeast, Halsua the southeast, Veteli in the south and Kronoby in the West. The community is monolingual Finnish speakers.

Kaustinen is mainly known for his yearly in July -find folk music festival. In addition, a Chamber Music Week is organized in Kaustinen every January. Kaustinen describes himself as a " music community " and carrying a violin in the coat of arms. The main attraction of Kaustinen is the 1777 completed and 1859 converted wooden church. The landscape on the current flowing through the municipality Perhonjoki with their fields and villages on the river bank has been officially recognized as a culturally and historically valuable ensemble.

In the local elections in Finland 2012, the base Finns reached 37.3 % in Kaustinen their nation's best result.
