Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is a 7740 km ² large nature reserve on the Kenai Peninsula of the U.S. state of Alaska. In the east borders the Wildlife Refuge on the Chugach National Forest, in the southeast on the Kenai Fjords National Park and the Harding Icefield. The Sterling Highway crosses the reserve from east to west at the level of Soldotna.

The protected area in which to live among other brown bears, Dall sheep, moose and reindeer, was founded in 1941 as the Kenai Moose Range. In 1980 it received its present name and status under the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. The 1980 also reported, 5480 km ² large Kenai Wilderness Area Wilderness lies within the Refuges.
