Kenya women's national volleyball team

The Kenyan national volleyball team of women is a selection of the best Kenyan players, the Kenya Volleyball Association represents in international tournaments and international matches.

History

World cup

In the first two appearances at a volleyball World Cup took Kenya in 1994 and 1998 respectively to 13th place. Following the increase in the number of participants, it was enough at the tournaments in 2002 and 2006 only to places 21 and 23

Olympic games

Kenya was in Sydney in 2000 for the first time in the Olympic tournament there and finished eleventh. The same result there was in Athens in 2004. For Beijing 2008, Kenya could not qualify.

African Cup of Nations

In the African Cup of 1991, the Kenyan women won against Egypt the title. Two years later, they repeated the success against the same opponent. In 1995 they were governed by the Egyptians in the finals, but they triumphed in 1997 - this time against Nigeria - for the third time. After they had been missing at the tournaments in 1999 and 2001, they reached the final again in 2003 as host against Egypt. 2005 and 2007 they were again African champions, first against the hosts Nigeria, then at home to Algeria. After Kenya in 2009 did not participate, she was once again in 2011 African champions.

World Cup

In 1991, the Kenyan women first played in the World Cup and was twelfth. Four years later they were able to improve by one rank. In 2007, she occupied twelfth place again.

The World Grand Prix was previously held without Kenya.
