Kępno, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Kępno ( German Kempen, Kashubian Kãpnò ) is a very small village in the northwest of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the Gmina Slupsk ( Stolp municipality ) in the powiat Słupski ( Stolp ).

Geographical location

Kępno located 13 kilometers north of Slupsk, and is Wrzeście ( Freist ) accessible from the province road 213. Until 1945 there was rail connection via station Karżcino ( Karzin ) to the railway line Stolp - Zezenow the stumbling tracks. Today is the nearest train station is in Slupsk near railroad tracks from Stargard to Gdansk and from Pila to Ustka.

History

The former Kempen has always been as a Vorwerk Freist (now Polish: Wrzeście ) and this village with its history connected. Until 1843 Kempen was over 400 years in the possession of those of Gutzmerow. Last owner before 1945 was Wilhelm Anhalt, who found his final resting place on the cemetery of the village. Wilhelm Anhalt was from 1918 to Mr Kempen. He enlarged the manor house in 1923 and settled in Kempen (as in Freist ) day laborer houses - solid stone houses with stables and small gardens - build.

Kempen was next to a water mill village in the municipality Freist, which belonged to the district of Stolp in Pomerania Region of the Prussian province of Pomerania until 1945. After 1945 the town was Polish, and is now part of Gmina Slupsk in powiat Słupski in the Pomeranian Voivodeship ( 1975-1998 Voivodeship Stolp ). Kępno is incorporated into the mayor's office Wrzeście.

Church

Before 1945, the population of Kempen almost complete Protestant denomination was. Kirchdorf was Freist that belonged to the Church of the Old Prussian Union in Ostsprengel the ecclesiastical province of the Church of Pomerania - Stolp Old Town.

Since 1945, most inhabitants of Kępno Catholic denomination. Vicarage remains Wrzeście. The parish is part of the deanery Główczyce ( Glowitz ) in the diocese of Pelplin of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are incorporated into the Cross parish in Slupsk ( Stolp ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.

School

A school was not in Kempen before 1945. The children attended the elementary school in Freist
