Ketil Bjørnstad

Ketil Bjørnstad ( born April 25, 1952 in Oslo) is a Norwegian writer, poet, composer and pianist.

Life

Bjørnstad studied in Oslo, London and Paris classical piano. At the age of 16, he played in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra Bela Bartok's 3rd Piano Concerto. Later he worked genre border with musicians in jazz and rock area. His first album under his own name, Åpning, he played in 1973 with a quartet, the guitarist Jon Eberson, bassist Arild Andersen and drummer Jon Christensen belonged. He is known among other things for his collaboration with Terje Rypdal ( The Sea - quartet and duo concerts ) and repeatedly occurred on the Moers Festival. His CD entitled floating of 2005 was at the top of the jazz charts of the magazines music market and music week.

Bjørnstad 1972 debuted as a writer with the poetry book Alene ut. He has published 32 books, mostly novels, but also poetry collections and essays. In Germany he was with his novel biographies of Edvard Munch ( 1995) and Edvard Grieg (1998 ) is known. His novel Vindings game in 2006 was on the fiction bestseller list of Der Spiegel. It was the first novel of a trilogy, the second volume was published in 2009 in German under the title The river and in 2010 with The woman graduated in the valley. With his trilogy Bjørnstad was some great succeeded Peter Henning wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, " a history of futile efforts to try to hold on happiness. "
