Kevin Stevens

Kevin Stevens ( born April 15, 1965 in Brockton, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played from 1988 to 2002 for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League.

Career

In his time at the Stevens High School played for the Silver Lake Lakers both hockey and baseball. While he drew attention to himself in ice hockey with 51 points in 18 games, he and the Philadelphia Phillies invited as an outstanding catcher in baseball for trial at the Toronto Blue Jays. However, since he had deficits in batting, he decided to follow for the Hockey. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1983, he was chosen by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round as the 108th. He moved to Boston College. During his college years, the rights were given to him to Pittsburgh. After 4 years at college, he joined the U.S. national team. Here he had a successful time under coach Herb Brooks.

At the end of the 1987/88 season, the Pittsburgh Penguins picked up the now 22 -year-old in their team. Stevens scored his first goal in the first game. The upcoming season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks Kevin started in the IHL. He fought his way to the end of the season back in the NHL team and from the 1989/90 season he was finally arrived in the NHL. Stevens convinced and became a left-winger in a forward line with Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr. This series led the Penguins early 90s twice to the Stanley Cup victory. During this time he also got his nickname " Artie ".

For the 1995/96 season he was delivered to the Boston Bruins, but he could not meet the expectations and even before season's end, he joined the team that had originally drafted him. But the one and a half years with the Los Angeles Kings were not a success to us as the journey of Kevin Stevens went on to the New York Rangers. Here he brought back a decent performance, even though he never was able to continue the level of his time in Pittsburgh. In his third season 1999/2000 with the Rangers, it turned out quite thick for Stevens. Sporty it did not go as desired and according to an away game in St. Louis he was caught with a prostitute in the consumption of cocaine. After rehab, he came over the next season back with the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL. After just 20 games, he moved back to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played the season came to an end and only sporadically in the following season for use. At the end of the season Stevens ended his career.

At the beginning of the season 2005/ 06 he took up his new job as a scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
