National Music Academy of Ukraine Peter Tchaikovsky (Ukrainian Національна музична академія України ім. П. І. Чайковського, to 1995 the Kiev Conservatory, Київська консерваторія ) is the most famous musical training facility Ukraine.

History

The Kiev Conservatory was founded in 1913. In 1995, the institution under a regulation of the then President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma in National Music Academy of Ukraine ( NMAU ) has been renamed.

The NMAU is the biggest Music Academy of Ukraine. It plays an important role in the musical life of the country. At the Academy to study about 2,000 Ukrainian students and more than 200 foreign students.

The NMAU is located on the central square of Kiev, the Maidan Nezalezhnosti ( German " Independence Square "). The building was built in the 1890s (architect Władysław Horodecki ). 1955-1958, the building was remodeled and expanded to include a concert hall.
