Kilcreggan

Kilcreggan is a small town in a sparsely populated region of the Scottish Unitary Authority Argyll and Bute. It lies on the banks of the Firth of Clyde towards Gourock and Greenock at the top of Rosneath Peninsula. Along with the neighboring municipality of northwestern Cove it marks the entrance to the estuary Loch Long. Helensburgh is located about six kilometers to the northeast. Together with Cove lived 1961 876 people in Kilcreggan. By 2001, this number had increased to 1414.

The town developed as a weekend and holiday resort, which is easy to reach from the port of Gourock from Glasgow. This ferry, which ends at the boat pier of Kilcreggan exists today. The crossing from Gourock takes twelve minutes to complete. There is also a regular ferry service between Kilcreggan and Helensburgh. The crossing takes about 15 minutes. Kilcreggan is connected by the B833 which runs largely along the coast of Rosneath to the road network. In the village, ranging from the Villa Glen Eden is a monument of the highest Scottish monument category A. Knockderry Castle is located about five kilometers north-west in Cove.
