King of the Delta Blues Singers, Volume II is a compilation album by Robert Johnson, which was released under the production of Frank Driggs in 1970 on Columbia Records. It is a kind of sequel to King of the Delta Blues Singers and contains as its predecessor material which Johnson has started in November 1936 and in June 1937 for Vocalion Records. Both parts are among the most important albums of blues and general music history and regularly appear in best-of lists of renowned music magazines. The Rolling Stone listed King of the Delta Blues Singers ranks 27 of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The second part took "only" the 424th place. In the latest version of that list both albums were taken from the list and replaced by The Complete Recordings; a compilation contains the entire Johnson material. Background

Most of the songs were already in the late 1930s, shortly before, and was released at the age of only 27 years after Johnson's early death and sold relatively well, but by his early death, he was quickly forgotten and was the only time collectors known and / or those who had witnessed the original publications of the material.

1961 brought Columbia Records then Driggs production King of the Delta Blues Singers out which justified Johnson's reputation as one of the most important blues musician of all time. His talent as a guitarist and songwriter, was rediscovered.
