There are 2 different versions, the first shot is heard on King of the Delta Blues Singers ( 1961), both versions on The Complete Recordings (1990). The original version was in March 1937 on Vocalion 03416 ARC 7-03-56 and as a 78rpm - published single.
Kind Hearted Woman was the first song of the recording session and was designed along the lines of "Cruel Hearted Woman Blues" by Bumble Bee Slim, this song was a hit for Slim, who in turn is based on "Mean Mistreater Mama" by Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell. Even if the song draws from many sources, so Johnson joins the models but with highly individual style.
