Sweet Home Chicago

Sweet Home Chicago is a Blue song, which was interpreted by many artists since the 1930s. Over time, the song was also the unofficial anthem of Chicago.

The first recording (San Antonio, Texas, Monday, November 23, 1936, released on Vocalion in August 1937) comes from Robert Johnson, him the authorship is attributed. But there is a variation of Kokomo Blues by James Arnold, who changed its name to " Kokomo Arnold " changed due to the great success. About the authorship there is dispute, however, is certain the fact that it was quite common in the blues and folk community of the 1920s and 1930s to adapt songs by other artists.

After the song a tribute to Chicago was the original text, referring to California was ( "Back to the land of California" ) in most cover versions of "Back to the same old place", and the line " I'm going to California " in " I'm going back to Chicago changed ". This version goes back to the pianist Roosevelt Sykes.

1983, the song in the version of Robert Johnson was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame Blues Foundation.
