Kingsize Taylor and the Dominoes

Edward " King Size" Taylor ( born November 12, 1939 in Liverpool) is a British rock musician.

Biography

His musical roots had Taylor in the rock 'n' roll and folk music. As a singer and guitarist, he devoted himself at times also the traditional skiffle. Taylor was given the nickname " king " because of his height. He was from 1957 a member of the James Boys, a skiffle group in Liverpool. From the end of 1957, he also acted in a rock - 'n' - roll band that occurred in 1960 under the band name " King Size Taylor And The Dominoes ".

With a repertoire of rock 'n ' roll, R & B, Blues and Country & Western King Size Taylor And The Dominoes occurred in the summer of 1962 at their first Germany - stint at the Star Club in Hamburg. From the middle of 1963 the saxophonist Howie Casey joined the Dominoes. He was a veteran of the live scene in Hamburg and occurred as early as 1960 with Derry And The Seniors in the Kaiser cellar. The lineup now consisted of six musicians ( two saxophones, two guitars, bass and drums ) and started in Hamburg with LP recordings.

In the summer of 1964 it came to a dispute within the band, as a result adopted, the total dominoes from their bandleader and namesake. Ted Taylor went back to Liverpool and worked again in his learned profession as a butcher. In 1966, Decca brought in England with Somebody's Always Trying / Look For My Baby a King Taylor solo single out, but, as in 1967, released by Polydor single Let Me Love You / Thinkin ' no sales success was. Thereupon Taylor, who could look back on 542 live performances on stage at the Hamburg Star Club, withdrew completely from the show business.

Taylor lives since 2006 in Hamburg again and appears here regularly as a singer and guitarist.
