Kivimetsän Druidi

Kivimetsän Druidi ( German Druids of the stone forest ) is a Finnish metal band from Kouvola. She plays with symphonic elements interspersed Folk Metal.

Band History

Kivimetsän Druidi was founded in 2002 by brothers Antti and Joni Koskinen. Strongly influenced by the band Moonsorrow and their then current album Voimasta yes Kunniasta the two original songs began to write. Both the band name and the content of their songs are based on a fantasy novel, worked on the Joni Koskinen. This deals with the fictional land of the Crystal Mountain and Stone Forest. 2003, the brothers took with Kristallivuoren Maa ( dt The Land of Crystal Mountain) a first demo, in which the texts were not written entirely in Finnish.

In the course of 2004 has been compiled with Antti Rinkinen, Lukas Pearsall, Jani Rämä, Jouni Riihelä and finally Annika Laaksonen a line-up could be completed with the first performances. In December, the group took Corner Studio in Carelian their first demo EP on, Taival (Eng. The Journey ), which earned them some good reviews. The song was also released on Veljet compilations of two metal magazines. In November 2005, Jani Rämä joined as a technician behind the stage and was replaced by Ville Ryöti as the new drummer.

With Mustang Valtikan Aika was released in January 2006, the next EP, which also received good reviews. More gigs followed, including opening for Korpiklaani. In the same year, the band had to find replacements for Jouni Riihelä and Annika Laaksonen. In early 2007 Kivimetsän Druidi went back into the studio and recorded a new EP, the songs on The New Chapter were also in English for the first time. More lineup changes followed, and finally got the band in August 2007 Korpiklaani the offer, how to follow them on their European tour, with 20 performances leads to the following fall by 14 countries. Upon her return in November was the next demo EP Taottu. This earned them a record deal with Century Media. The debut album of Kivimetsän Druidi was early June in Noise Camp recorded studio in Turku.

Shadow Heart was released on 17 October 2008. The initial reviews were rather average nature. Although the solid production and also the approaches were praised, but it would be to be unambiguously identified that Kivimetsän Druidi was influenced by bands like Finntroll, Turisas, Moonsorrow, Ensiferum, Battlelore and Korpiklaani, as therefore by the lack of independence and lack of own ideas nothing new was created and in addition supplied by the other bands hits were missed.

On 23 April 2010 their second album Betrayal, Justice, Revenge came out under Century Media. The songs are partly similar to those of the Finnish band Nightwish. For the critics, the opinions on this album are divided, as it the band's development, both positive and negative can view. So the songs are now mainly sung by Leeni -Maria Hovila, so that the voice of frontman Joni Koskinen moves into the background and no longer occurs. On the other Keayboarder Antti Koskinen now takes over the melodic task, with the electric guitar the music accompanied only with endless riffs.

In November 2010, the band announced plans to play at the upcoming Paganfest in March of next year alongside Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow and Unleashed.
