Klášterec nad Orlicí

Klášterec nad Orlicí ( German Klösterle ) is a municipality in Okres Ústí nad Orlicí in the Czech Republic. Four kilometers northeast of Klášterec the border runs for Kłodzki powiat in Poland. At a distance of six kilometers southwest lies Žamberk.

Geography

Klášterec is on the left side of the Wild Eagle at the southeastern edge of the Eagle Mountains. Neighboring towns are Bartosovice in the north, České Petrovice in the east, Petrovičky, Mladkov and Vlčkovice ( Wöllsdorf ) in the southeast, Pastviny in the south, Zbudov in the southwest and Kunvald and Bubnov ( Bubenetz ) in the northwest. North-east rises the 673 -meter-high stone rock ( Skalka ) southwest of the 688 m high mountain church ( Kostelní vrch ). To the south lies the reservoir Pastviny for which the Wild Eagle is jammed.

History

Klösterle was taken on a crossing of the Wild eagle and was first in 1273 with a monastery of the Cross with the Red heart, a medieval mendicant orders mentioned. Both the monastery and the surrounding settlements were destroyed by the Hussites in 1421. 1452-1453 the Holy Cross Church was built.

Politically, Klösterle succession to the dominions Sandbach, Pott stone and Senftenberg. 1830, the then landowner John Parish of Senftenberg mile north-east of Klösterle a castle in the Empire style, which served as a hunting lodge in 1936 and burned down. After the Second World War, the German inhabitants were expelled. Klášterec nad Orlicí belonged to Okres Žamberk and came to the resolution to Okres Ústí nad Orlicí.

Attractions

  • The late Gothic Holy Cross Church from the mid 15th century, was rebuilt several times and in 1769 remodeled in the Baroque style.
