Kınalıada

Kınalıada (Greek: Πρώτη / Proti ) is an island of the Princes' Islands in Istanbul and belongs to the district Adalar. The 1.3 sq km, forest poor island is 5.7 km from the Asian mainland

Kınalıada means something like henna island. The name comes from the red soil that is typical of the island. In the past, have been obtained on Kınalıada copper and iron, causing the soil turned red, and is thus the least forested island.

The island was the retreat and exile of Byzantine rulers, best known by you is Romanos IV.

The only 12 km south-east away from the European mainland tour island you can in 25 - 40 minutes to reach by ferry.
