Kode9

Kode9 ( born 1974 in Glasgow as Steve Goodman) is a Scottish artist of electronic music, DJ and one of the first dubstep artist. He is the owner of the label Hyperdub and is considered along with dubstep producers such as Skream, Benga and Hatcha as one of the pioneers of the genre.

Career

He began with the genres UK garage, jungle and drum and bass, as well as many other former Dubstep producers. His music relates influences from, among others, dub and dancehall. In 2004 he founded at his home London his own label Hyperdub, later published artists such as Burial, Ikonika and King Midas Sound on. 2010 he mixed an album from the DJ-Kicks series for the label Studio K7.

Goodman has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Warwick.
