Koen Casteels

Koen Casteels ( born June 25, 1992 Bonheiden ) is a Belgian football player who is under contract for the 2011/12 season in the German Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Career

Clubs

He already started with four years to play at KAC Betekom with football and, after his tenth birthday in the youth department of KRC Genk. After Casteels had played in his youth in Belgium for KRC Genk, he was transferred to the First Team of the association in July 2009. In summer 2011, he moved to Germany to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and there wrote a four-year contract. In the 2011/12 season he was only in the second team (U -23) in the then fourth division Regionalliga Süd used. Due to the failure of main goalkeeper Tom Starke in October 2011, he moved for two compulsory games as a second keeper on the bench of the professional team.

For the season 2012/13 Casteels was second behind goalkeeper Tim Wiese. Match practice, he gained further parallel in the U -23 in the Regionalliga West. On September 23, 2012, he came to his pro debut when he 96 marched in for the injured meadow in the starting lineup in a 3-1 win against Hannover. After the end of January Heurelho Gomes was obliged Casteels maintained its position as the number two against the temporarily suspended meadow. When Gomes injured 28 on matchday and failed to end of season, he took over his postition as a goalkeeper.

National

On 5 August 2009 Casteels completed under Marc van Geersom his first junior international game for the Belgian U-19 national team, for whom he 2011 seven additional games played until July 21. He also participated in Romania at the U-19 European Championship. However, in the 13th minute he was shown a red card in the first group match against the eventual champions Spain ( 1:4). Since the Belgian national team already eliminated in the first round, this was also his last assignment.
