Kon Kan

Kon Kan was a Canadian synth - pop act whose members Barry Harris and Kevin Wynne were called. The band's name is an allusion to the rules of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, called Can ( adian ) Con ( tent ), which specify that 30 percent of the music must come from Canada in Canadian radio and television broadcasts.

Band History

Barry Harris was employed by an insurance company. He quit his job and became a DJ in a club of his hometown Toronto. In the spring of 1988 he met the singer Kevin Wynne, with whom he recorded the title I Beg Your Pardon. In 1989, the single was the first joint success as Kon Kan. The song, in which lines of text from Lynn Anderson's 1971 hit ( I Never Promised You A ) Rose Garden have been processed, placed in Germany and the UK in the top 10 in the U.S. in the top 20

With Harry Houdini (UK number 88 ) and Puss N ' Boots / These Boots Are Made for Walkin' (U.S. number 58 ), the samples from Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song and Nancy Sinatra's These Boots Are Made for Walking contained, reached two further extractions from Move to Move album chart ranks. A short time later, Wynne left the project and Harris use the name Kon Kan on alone. Results of his work were the albums Syntonic (1990) and Vida! ... (1993). None of the coupled Singles able to build on earlier successes, chart positions did not materialize.

Then, Harris has focused on the production of other acts, like Kim Esty that we have already heard as a background singer in Kon Kan I Beg Your Pardon, Top Kat, Outta Control, Thunderpuss 2000 and Killer Bunnies.
