Led Zeppelin III is the third album by British rock band Led Zeppelin. It was published recorded from May to August 1970 in studios in Memphis, Hampshire, London and New York City and produced and on 5 October 1970.

Style and Structure

The album begins with the Immigrant Song, a classic hard rock song in the style of previous works. After Friends, a gentle song with interwoven acoustic guitar melodies follows. Since I've Been Loving You is a pure, recorded in the studio live song. Gallows Pole, a folk song, is the biggest surprise on the album. Jimmy Page heard him for the first time on a long-playing record by Fred Gerlach, a twelve- string guitarist. The song was originally heavily influenced by Leadbelly. Next follows a tangerine, a song that Page had originally written for the Yardbirds. That's the Way contains a strongly autobiographical text and deals with the impressions during their concert tours in the United States. Bron -Y - Aur Stomp is a simple song about Robert Plant's dog. The album ends with Hats off to ( Roy ) Harper, a tribute to the eccentric British folk singer Roy Harper.

Reviews

The reviews were devastating for the most part. They mocked about the band, because they had given up their tough style and probably more like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young would drown. Individual positive reviews, there were nevertheless. After Nick Logan ( New Musical Express), the third album would prove to be an important turning point in the band's career. Said Chris Welch ( Melody Maker) that the third album is tasty safe and therefore better than Led Zeppelin II in spite of different approaches.
