Koo Wee Rup

Koo Wee Rup is a small town 75 km south-east of Melbourne in Cardinia Shire in the state of Victoria in Australia. The place is known for its vegetable and especially asparagus cultivation.

Before the Europeans settled here the Aborigines of Bunurong, from whose language comes the name of locality: " ku - wirup " means " a lot of blackfish " or " Blackfish swarms " ( Blackfish = Black seabass = Centropristis striata ).
