Košúty

Košúty (up to 1927 Slovak " Zemanské Košúty "; Hungarian Nemeskosút - to 1907 Košút ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1570 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Galanta, a part of the Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowlands on a floodplain of the Dudváh. The municipal area is flat and of Au or black soil covered. The center is located at an altitude of 120 m nm and is five kilometers from Sládkovičovo and six kilometers from Galanta away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1138 as Willa Qusout writing and belonged to the local nobles. 1828 were counted 71 houses and 513 inhabitants.

Until 1918, belonged to the county located in the Bratislava city of the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. On the basis of the First Vienna Award 1938-1945 he was lying again in Hungary.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Košúty 1,556 inhabitants, of whom 739 Magyars, 712 Slovaks, Czechs eight and one Bulgarian, German and Roma; eight residents were of other ethnicity. 86 inhabitants did not know. 1,121 inhabitants belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church of the 47 residents, 17 residents for evangelistic church, 15 inhabitants to the Reformed Church, eight residents to the apostolic church, five inhabitants to the United Methodist Church, four inhabitants of the Greek Catholic Church, three residents to the Mormons, and each one population to Bahaitum and the Jewish community; eleven residents were of a different denomination. 178 inhabitants were non-denominational and 145 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
