Koulikoro Region

Koulikoro is an administrative region of Mali with 2,418,305 inhabitants ( census 2009). Its capital is the same place Koulikoro.

Ethnic groups in the region are the Bambara, Malinke and Somono.

Geography

The Koulikoro region lies in the southwest of Mali and is bordered to the south by Guinea to the north by Mauritania. It surrounds the capital district Bamako. The rivers Niger, Baoulé Sankarani, Baogé, Bani and Bafing cover the region. The extreme south Koulikoros is relatively moist, north dominates the climate of the Sahel.

Koulikoro is divided into the seven circles ( cercles ) Banamba, Dioïla, Kangaba, Koulikoro, Kolokani, Kati and Nara.
