Koygolo

Region

Koygolo is a rural municipality in the department of Boboye in Niger.

Geography

The rural community is located at the junction of the Sahel to large landscape Sudan at Wadi Dallol Bosso. It is due to non-existent or poor roads difficult to access. The neighboring municipalities are Tagazar in the north, Loga, Sokorbé and Garankédey in the east, and Harikanassou Kiota in the south and Dantchandou in the West. The municipality is divided into 41 administrative villages, 37 traditional villages and two hamlets. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Koygolo.

History

The main town Koygolo was founded in the second half of the 19th century by Issa Korombé as his new seat of power, who had previously been in karma. France set up in 1905 in a Canton Koygolo one. From the Canton Koygolo was founded in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform, the rural community Koygolo forth.

Population

At the 2001 census Koygolo had 39 414 inhabitants. For the year 2010 52.784 inhabitants were calculated. The population is majority owned by the ethnic group of the Zarma. In addition, a Fulani minority lives in Koygolo, and there are three Tuareg villages and a Songhai village in the municipality.
