Fabidji

Region

Fabidji (also: Fabirdji ) is a rural municipality in the department of Boboye in Niger.

Geography

Fabidji lies in the large landscape Sudan at the Wadi Dallol Bosso. The neighboring municipalities are Fakara the northwest, Birni N'Gaouré in the northeast, Kankandi in the east, the south and Falmey Kirtachi in the West. The municipality is divided into 28 administrative villages, 27 villages and 44 hamlets traditional. The main town of the rural community is Fabidji consisting of the administrative villages Fabidji Djerma and Fabidji Haoussa.

History

The rural community Fabidji originated as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Birni N'Gaouré / Boboye.

Population

At the 2001 census Fabidji had 30,520 inhabitants. For the year 2010 40.873 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture. In the capital there is a regionally important weekly market.
