Krakovany, Piešťany District

Krakovany (Hungarian Krakovany - to 1907 Krakován ) is a municipality in western Slovakia. It is located in the Danube hills at the creek Holeška, 2 km from Vrbove, 9 km from Piešťany and about 30 km from Trnava.

The village was first mentioned in 1113 as Craco and is a known archaeological site. In 1944 the town was annexed to the village Stráže (Hungarian Vágőr ).

In the archaeological site of a collection of luxury items made ​​of glass, bronze, silver and gold was found in three graves, which date from the period between 200 and 300 AD.

The village has two churches ( 1270 and 1702 ).
