Krásno (Sokolov District)

Krasno ( German Schoenfeld, formerly Synfelt ) is a city in the Imperial Forest ( Slavkov ) in north-western Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It has 660 inhabitants and is located near Slavkov ( Schlaggenwald ) in Okres Sokolov. Krasno was once known for its mining industry; the last pit closed in the early 1990s.

History

The town grew from a mining settlement and received in 1355 by the brothers Slauko and Boreš of Riesenburg 1355 The law of the jurisdiction and administration of tin mining in the region of Petschau. 1380 was followed by the city charter, awarded by Boreš of giant castle. 1547 Schönfeld was raised to the Royal Mining Town. Since April 12, 2007 Krasno is a city again.

For the city Krasno no districts are reported. Basic settlement units are Dolni Hluboká ( Untertiefenbach ), Haje ( Rabensgrün ), Krasno ( Schönfeld ) and Milešov (Müller green).

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Dolni Hluboká, Haje nad Teplou, Krasno nad Teplou and Milešov.

Attractions

The Mining Museum Krasno is located at the site of the historic tin mine Wilhelm Schacht ( Vilém ), which is based on the Gell Auer transition system and with some interruptions until the 90s of the 20th century in operation.

  • Willibald Russ (1887-1947) - sculptor, created the statue of Goethe in Marienbad ( Marianske Lazne ) and tile mosaics depicting life in the village and the four seasons. The works are now exhibited in the museum of Cheb (Eger).
