Kristian Kolby

Kristian Kolby ( born October 9, 1978 in Ringkøbing ) is a former Danish racing driver.

Career

Kolby began his motorsport career in 1988 in karting, where he was active until 1994. In addition, he gave in 1994 his debut in Formula racing and finished seventh in the British Formula Vauxhall and fourth in the British Formula Vauxhall Winter Series. In 1995, the Dane in the British Formula Ford after he had occupied the tenth place overall in his first season, he won the 1996 British Formula Ford championship

After he became sixth in the 1997 British Formula Renault, he moved in 1998 to the British Formula 3 championship Fortec Motorsport, finishing in sixth place overall. He also competed for Coloni Motorsport in a race in the Italian Formula 3000th He was 15th in the overall standings.

In 2000, Kolby in the International Formula 3000 championship and went to the French DAMS team. The racers could not qualify for four races and was his teammate Franck Montagny inferior over long distances. The season he finished in 23rd place overall. He also competed in five races of the Danish Touring Car Championship, in which he was 13, and the 24- hour race at Le Mans. 2001 left Kolby Europe and launched in the North American Indy Lights for Conquest Racing. At the race in Kansas City, he won the race with only one thousandth of a second ahead of Damien Faulkner. The finish is one of the scarcest decisions in a motor sports race dar. Before he had to end his career in 2003 due to financial problems of his financial backers in his early years, he returned in 2002 for three races in the Formula 3000 back. Kolby launched for the Italian team coached by Coloni European Minardi F3000. The Dane never got beyond a tenth place and finished yet as the second best Minardi pilot at the end of the season on the 19th place in the drivers' standings.
