Kristin Asbjørnsen

Kristin Asbjørnsen ( born May 12, 1971) is a Norwegian singer and composer.

Biography

Kristin Asbjørnsen studied at the Trondheim Conservatory for jazz singer. She became known as a singer of jazz - rock band Dadafon for which she has worked as a composer. First, the albums of Dadafon were not published in the German-speaking world, only the album Lost Love Chords from 2005 also came to Germany in the trade.

In addition to her work at Dadafon Asbjørnsen is a member of the formations Kvitretten and Kroyt. In 2004, she sang on the album Seafarer 's Song of the Norwegian musician and Ketil Bjørnstad authors, which was also published in Germany. With the soundtrack to the film Factotum by Bent Hamer Asbjørnsen in 2006 published her first solo album.

Dadafon

The band was founded in 1995 under the name Coloured Moods (German -colored moods ) and was renamed in 2000 in Dadafon. The band's music is a mixture of jazz, rock and pop music, often mixed with elements of African music. So far Dadafon were commercially less successful, however, praised by the critics and currently enjoy the status of an " insider ". The first album of the band entitled Coloured Moods was released in 1995, the latest album Lost Love Chords 2005. Currently, the band consists besides Asbjørnsen from Jostein Ansnes (guitar, vocals), Øyvind Engen ( Cello, Piano), Eirik Øien ( Bass, cornet) and Martin Langlie (drums, keyboards).

Kvitretten

Kristin Asbjørnsen occurred in 1994, which was founded in 1991 Vocal Ensemble at Kvitretten, which consists of the quartet of singers Kristin Asbjørnsen, Tone Åse, Solveig Slettahjell and Eldbjørg Raknes since 1997. With original compositions and contemporary pieces Norwegian jazz musicians they occur in Scandinavia and Germany until 2002 in many concerts. The first album Voices was published in 1996 and the group brought a nomination for the Norwegian media award Spellemannprisen. Kroyt

Together with Øyvind Brandtsegg and Thomas T. Dahlen forms Asbjørnsen the rock band Kroyt founded in 1993. The band played successfully at festivals in Scandinavia, France, Germany and the USA. In 1997 they released their first album Sub. For the album Low in 2000 they received the Spellemann pinch. 2001, they released their last album One Heart is too small. Kroyt played with various other bands, including the Swedish Flesh Quartet and the Norwegian String Quartet Vertavo. In 2005, the band cellist Svante Henryson with the Swedish occurred.

Solo projects

In addition to her work at the 3 bands Asbjørnsen 's also always own way. In 2004, she was heard Seafarer 's Song of the Norwegian pianist Ketil Bjørnstad authors and besides Nils Petter Molvaer and Eivind Aarset on the album.

Soundtrack

To the film Factotum of the Norwegian director Bent Hamer two titles were first published on the Dadafon album Lost Love Chords. Released early in 2006 under his own name Asbjørnsen the soundtrack to the film for which she received the award in Norway for the best film music in 2005.

Spirituals

Growing up as a pastor's daughter Kristin Asbjørnsen was already in her childhood with music religious backgrounds into contact. At the age of eleven her father gave her a music cassette titled Feelin 'Spirit on which the Norwegian singer Marit Carlsen interpreted African-American spirituals. Years later, she learned shortly before her death in 1990, the native of Chicago singer Ruth Reese know. Reese, who lived in Norway since 1960, bequeathed an extensive songbook largely unknown spirituals. For published in autumn 2006 album Wayfaring Stranger Asbjørnsen arranged spirituals different from that songbook of Reese. With this program, the singer in 1998 occurred with pianist Tord Gustavsen. For the album she recorded the title with Jostein Ansnes, with whom she also works at Dadafon, Jarle Bernhoft and Anders Engen. The album was sold from September 2007 also outside Norway.
