Geography

Kropstädt is located about 13 km northeast of the city center in the Natural Park flaming. On 1 January 2010, until then independent municipality was incorporated together with the communities and Boßdorf Straach to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Districts of the former municipality were Jahmo, Köpnick and Wüstemark.

Culture and sights

The Kropstädt castle was built in 1855-1856 by the then owner of Leipzig Karl Friedrich Adolf according to plans by the Berlin architect Friedrich Hitzig in the English Gothic style. In its place was the 1150 Wasserburg Liesnitz. Today ( 2013) it is a hotel.

Club Life

Kropstädt has various non-profit organizations: the sports club Kropstädt 02 ( bowling, fitness, cycling ), the carnival club KKC (founded 1957) and the Friends of the volunteer fire department. In addition, many small clubs and organizations for the preservation and maintenance of the unique manor and the castle park involved.
