Kručov

Kručov (Slovak to 1992 " Rusky Kručov "; russinisch officially until 1965 Руский Қручов / Ruski Krutschow, Hungarian Felsőkrucsó - to 1902 Oroszkrucsó ) is a municipality in the district Stropkov in eastern Slovakia.

The community Kručov is at a right tributary of the upper Ondava. The surrounding hills of the Highlands Ondavská ( Ondauer Bergland ) reach heights of up to 472 meters above sea level ( Muchova hora north of the community ).

1309, the village was first mentioned. The Orthodox Church dates from the 18th century.

By Surrounded by fields village Kručov performs the highway 556 of Giraltovce to Turany nad Ondavou. It connects along the river valleys of Topľa and Ondava withdrawing transit roads I/15 ( Svidník Vranov nad Topľou ) and E 371 ( Rzeszów - Prešov ) together.

The population of the municipality is on the decline (1991: 254 inhabitants; 2001: 242 inhabitants; 2007: 235 inhabitants). The population consists of 93 % of Slovaks, Ruthenians are 6%. 74 % of residents gave as a confession of Greek Catholic, about 20 % profess the Orthodox Church.
