Kujō Yoritsune

Kujo Yoritsune (Japanese九 条 頼 経; * February 12, 1218, † September 1, 1256 ) was the fourth shogun of the Kamakura shogunate in Japan. He reigned from 1226 to 1244.

His father was the Kampaku Michiie Kujo and his grandmother was a niece of Minamoto no Yoritomo. He was born after the Chinese astrology the zodiac sign of the Tiger, in the month of the Tiger and the day of the tiger, so he was given the birth name Mitora (三 寅), " Triple Tiger " is given.

Kujo Yoritsune is also known under the name of Fujiwara no Yoritsune, as the family Kujo was one of the five branches of the powerful Fujiwara clan.

At the age of seven, he was in 1226 Seii Taishogun as part of a political deal between his father and the regent Hojo Hojo Masako Yoshitoki and who used him as a puppet ruler.

In 1244 he left his position as the Shogun to his son, Kujo Yoritsugu. The following year he became a Buddhist priest.
