Kunštát

Kunstat ( German: Kunštát ) is a city in Okres Blansko in the Czech Republic. It is located 11 km west of Boskovice.

History

Kunstadt was first mentioned in 1281. It belonged to Olomouc eunuch Kuna Zbraslav and Kunstadt occupied for the years 1250-1295. He founded the branch of the family Kuna ( Kunova line ), from which the gender name of the Lords of Kunštát derived, which was to all subsequent branches of the family, including the Bohemian line of the Lords of Podiebrad transferred.

The Kunstadt castle is occupied only for 1360. After 1408 Kunstadt belonged to the Boček II of Podiebrad († 1417 ). He inherited his sons Kunstadt Boček and Viktorin. About the latter occurred after 1448 to his son George of Podiebrad that prompted a reconstruction of the castle.

The last owner of the domain Kunstadt was Ludwig Zajímač, who belonged to the family branch of Kunštát and Lichtenau. From him it was bought in 1520 by William II Pernštejna. After several changes of ownership Kunstadt fell to Stephan Schmied von free Mayrhofen, which housed after 1620 in the castle Kunstadt Johann Amos Comenius and had to go later because of its commitment to Calvinism itself into exile.

1680 Kunstadt was in possession of Johann Maximilian von Lamberg. The last owners were from 1901 Coudenhove- Honrichs that were expropriated in 1945. Since 1889 the ceramic manufacturing developed, later also moved to the machinery and chemical industry. On 1 July 1994 Kunstat became a town.
