The Kuopio ( Finland ) Airport is located 17 kilometers north of Kuopio in the south of the municipality of Siilinjärvi near the village Rissala.

Flight operations in 1940 and is recorded by the airlines airBaltic fly ( since 17 April 2008), Finnair, Finncomm Airlines and Blue1.

Because of its location on a peninsula in Lake Iso - Jälä an extension of the airport is planned. It is a sea terminal to be built, can be explored by the out of the sea with boats and seaplanes. Kuopio is one of the five Finnish airports that have achieved in 2006 a profit.

There are bus connections to the cities of Kuopio and Iisalmi.

Military airfield

The Civil Aerodrome is used in the southern part of the Finnish Air Force. At the airport, one of the three squadrons of the Finnish Air Force is stationed ( Squadron Karelia: Karelian lennosto ). In the squadron serve 600 soldiers and it has 20 multi-role combat aircraft of the type F/A-18C/D. In the rocks west of the plate are two inputs to a Flugzeugkaverne.
