La Ferté-Villeneuil

La Ferté- Villeneuil is a commune with 403 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Eure- et- Loir in the Centre region; it belongs to the district Châteaudun and Canton Cloyes -sur -le- Loir. The village lies in the valley of the river Aigre.

History

La Ferté- Villeneuil was in the 12th century belonged to the Counts of Blois. At this time, the place had a city wall ( which was demolished in the 18th century), two churches ( one of which today, Saint- Pierre, was destroyed during the Hundred Years War) and a castle that particular Theobald VI. was used as the residence of Blois ( and also died here ), and a hospital (Hôtel -Dieu ).
