La Punt

La Punt- Chamues -ch ( [ ˌ lɐ pʊnttɕamuə̯ʃtɕ ]? / I, German / Italian and until 1943 officially Ponte Campovasto ) is a municipality in the district of the Upper Engadine, Maloja district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

The bridge as a persuasive part of the emblem and symbol of the connection between the two parts of municipalities across the Inn of time is connected with the bell as a reference to the patron of the parish of Chamues -ch, the Saint Andrew.

Geography

At the foot of the Albula Pass the Engadine valley road and the Inn ( rät. En) is achieved at La Punt. From here, the valley section of Pontresina is achieved upstream of the Bernina massif and on the well-known Celerina St. Moritz.

From the formerly independent village of La Punt (1697 m) is a bridge over the Inn to Chamues -ch (1708 m), which bears the Latin names of Camogask. The Romans called it Camogascum, from which Italian Campovasto was. Both villages now form a political community.

At La Punt- Chamues -ch the landscape La Plaiv begins.

Population

Languages

Official and school language is the Upper Engadine dialect ( turkey ) Romansh, along with German. Until the advent of tourism, the inhabitants all spoke Romansh. The language gave way to 1880 back strong. At that time gave only 71.6 % Romansh as their mother tongue. Thereafter, the proportion rose to the turn of the century again ( 1900: 80%), but then decreased to 1910 to 69%. A value that did not change until the beginning of World War II (1941: 68%). Then sat down to 1970 a a less strong since the 1970s decline of Romansh. However it has been in 1990 and 48.3% agree 47.6 % of residents in Romansh in 2000. Attractions

The Early Gothic church of San Andrea in Chamues -ch is the classic example of a Gothic mountain pilgrimage church with a slim white tower and Romanesque portal. It shows sgraffito motifs on the door knockers and has a Gothic vault. The nave and the choir are adorned with frescoes by Bernard of Poschiavo of 1505. Worth seeing is the 1680 built reformed Baroque church in La Punt. Guard over the villages in the nearby village of Madulain the castle Guardaval a former look and customs station. Beautiful old Engadine houses such as the patrician family home Nereda - Albertini ( Chesa Merleda ) from the 17th century or the house surgeon from 1594 have been preserved in spite of all fires, natural disasters and modern construction.

Others

In addition to ski school, skating and curling square there is a cross-country trail where dogs are allowed. An 11 km long Rollerblade path leads from La Punt up to S- chanf, Mountain Bike are allowed here.
