La Résie-Saint-Martin

La Résie -Saint -Martin is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Résie -Saint -Martin is located at an altitude of 221 ​​m above sea level, 5 km north-east of Pesmes and about 33 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department, east of Saôneebene on the village stream Ruisseau de Sainte -Cécile, on the eastern edge of Gros Bois.

The area of ​​3.27 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. The area occupied by a plateau, which is on average 230 m. It is composed of Tertiary sediments and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. In the west, the municipality's area extends into the vast forest area of Gros Bois. With 243 m is reached on a hill east of the village is the highest elevation of La Résie -Saint -Martin. The area is drained by the Ruisseau de Sainte -Cécile, which rises near the village and provides drainage to the north over the Résie to Ognon.

History

In the Middle Ages La Résie -Saint -Martin belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Pesmes. Through a donation in 1312 came also the Knights of Montseugny Coming into possession of land in the municipality today. Together with the Franche- Comté reached La Résie -Saint -Martin with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today La Résie -Saint -Martin is a member of the comprehensive 18 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Val de Pesmes.

Attractions

The Village Church of La Résie -Saint -Martin was built in the 18th century. In the cemetery there is a wooden crucifix from the 16th century. A crossroads in the village dates from 1767, is also worth the Lavoir whose roof is supported by six pillars.; it was once used as a wash house and livestock watering.

Population

With 165 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Résie -Saint -Martin is one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 203 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded in the last decades.

Economy and infrastructure

La Résie -Saint -Martin was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Chaumercenne after Vadans. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 18 km. Further road links exist with Valay and Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes.
