La Trappe Abbey

The Cistercian monastery of La Trappe ( Abbey of Notre Dame de la Trappe; Trappa ), located in the city Soligny -la- Trappe in Orne in Basse-Normandie region about 60 km north of Le Mans in France.

History

The monastery was founded by an endowment by Rotrou III. , Count of Perche, 1122 and is since 1147, when the Congregation of Savigny joined the Cistercian Order, Cistercian.
