Łąki Kozielskie

LenkaU (Polish Łąki Kozielskie ) is a place in the bilingual Polish community Leschnitz ( Leśnica ) in the district of Opole Voivodeship Strzelce.

Geography

LenkaU is located approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Opole and 4 kilometers southeast of Leschnitz in the historic Upper Silesia. By LenkaU flows Łącka Woda.

History

For the first time LenkaU was mentioned in a document dating from 1336. LenkaU long time belonged to the Catholic parish Rokitsch ( Rokicie ) - today Raschowa. In the visitation records of the parish in the 17th century LenkaU was mentioned as Leki and Lenky. The history of this town is closely associated with the city Cosel, in whose district it belonged too. 1783 was LenkaU Latifundium von Cosel under the owner count Plettenberg. In 1817 there were two manor houses in the village, which belonged to the Stwolinsky family. 1843 were in the following LenkaU building called Castle, Barbican, 3 water mills and 79 private homes. At the village included the colony Kuschofka.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on 20 March 1921 which was accompanied in the area of civil wars, voted in LenkaU 224 persons to remain in Germany and 216 for Poland. LenkaU remained as the entire voting district Cosel the German Reich.

From 1933 the new Nazi rulers large-scale renaming of place names of Slavic origin conducted. 1936, the village name was changed to LenkaU Wolf meadows.

1945 was the place as Łąki Kozielskie to Poland. 1983-1987, a church was built in honor of the Blessed Bronisława in the village. In the village there is also the St. John's chapel is from the 19th century.

In 2006, the Gmina Leschnitz, the LenkaU as the district belongs, German as an auxiliary language, and in 2008 a bilingual place names.
