Lance Dossor

Lance Dossor ( born May 14, 1916 in Weston -super- Mare, United Kingdom, † December 3, 2005 in Adelaide, Australia ) was a British- Australian pianist and professor.

Life

Dossor studied piano with Herbert 1932-1937 Freyer at the " Royal School of Music" in London and later with Emil von Sauer in Vienna.

In 1926 he won the Special Prize of the International Music Competition in Vienna. A year later he won the fourth prize at the prestigious Chopin Competition in Warsaw. In May 1938 he was again honored in Brussels at the " Eugène Ysaÿe " contest with fourth place.

After the Second World War Dossor moved to Australia and became a well-known professor at the University of Adelaide. 1953 to 1979 he taught at the local music conservatory.
